Kelly Turner has taught high school Spanish for the Three Rivers School District in Grants Pass, Oregon since 2004. Her current assignment includes a student load of 180 Spanish 1, 2 and 3 students at North Valley High School in rural Merlin. Kelly is a dynamic teacher who designs and implements a proficiency based curriculum which emphasizes the development of oral and written communication.
Kelly has worked as an educator in Oregon for over 20 years. Her experience includes four years at Rogue Community College and three years as a Special Education teacher in Albany, Oregon.
Kelly’s teaching is supported by an Oregon Secondary Teaching License with endorsements in Spanish, Social Studies and English as a Second Language, an Initial Administrative License, a Masters Degree of Educational Leadership (MEd Southern Oregon University 2012) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and Spanish from the University of Oregon (1986).
In 2016 Kelly participated in the Panama Teacher Match program. In 2009 and 2010 Kelly provided professional development to rural Telecundaría teachers through PROBEM (Programa Binacional de Educación Migrante) in Morelos, Mexico. In 2007 Kelly participated in the Juniata College Teacher’s Abroad program and served as a volunteer English teacher at the Colegio Miguel Angel Asturias in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Her travels include an adolescence spent living in Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru with her parents and a six month exchange program in Seville, Spain through the University of Oregon.

Panama Teacher Match 2016The Panama Teacher Match Program is a program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section in Panama with the objective of increasing English language capacity in the Panamanian public school system by matching American teachers with Panamanian public school English teachers to assist in classroom instruction, curriculum development, and teacher training. Kelly is looking forward to six weeks of service in Panama this summer.
